Crazy man below, help!!

Hi all,

I moved into a new flat last week, which is in a 20's development, meaning although the walls are very thick the sound proofing between the floors is not great...

So the second night I heard an odd noise from below, it turned out to be a very bad cough from whoever lives down there..

Now for the last couple of nights this person has been yelling, and general talking gibersih to himself (I think) until 4am and its keeping me up, last night it pissed me off so much that I stamped the floor 5 times, and it stopped..

Now I think this person has a mental problem, as they speak so loudly it can't be to anyone else, and from what I can tell its gibberish..

But I can't have this carrying on as it will ruin my sleep, its the same as playing loud music all night, I can hear him now talking very loudly at something, is there anything I can do?

We have a board here of directors etc so not sure if they would help? Baring in mind he was probably here way before me, but that is not the point IMO..

If you don't mind spending the money just sound proof your floors.

It is not that cheap though and is a pain in the ass to do if you are living there.

Well the place is rented, so I shant be spending any large amounts on it out of my moeny..

I can ask I suppose, its one option.

This is the bedroom, there are three and this is mine, ironically I chose the one down the hall from everyone else as I like my quiet, little did I know..

Get the people you bought the flat from to pay for the sound proofing. I'm pretty sure they are supposed to declare any problems with neighbours nowadays.

Suggest to him that you will consider getting him sectioned if it happens again.

Brilliant the fker plays piano aswell.

So I can hear his tv very clearly, and now a piano. That shows you how loud it must be.. Or how bad these flats are..
Still in the day this is not a problem, but as you say at anything after midnight its not on.

Bit of a shame, as his living room or bedroom must be directly under mine

Just record him with a high quality recorder then play it back to him through your stereo. He will go off his nut quickly. He's hardly likely to knock on the door and say I just heard me coming from your room is he..

Just got neighbours moved in below me, after the flat was vacant for over 3 months.

After having to listen to them get very drunk two nights on the troot, as well as listen to their toddler's screaming at 6.30 Sunday morning, I had to endure listening them having sex last night (mainly her, it has to be said)

Time for me to start looking for my own place, or start listening to my Ipod in bed.

I'm soooo glad I don't live in a flat any longer... you've just reminded me of the misery it can be when you have inconsiderate f**kwits up, down and to the side of you.
