Hi there all, having been torn between an E46 M3 Convertible and Alpina Roadster S for some time I have decided to go and test drive the Roadster this coming Saturday with a view to leaving a deposit if I like it. Being snowed in today it seemed the perfect opportunity to ring around and get some insurance quotes. I have been led to believe that the Alpina Roadster is a cheaper car to insure than it's M badged equivalent but despite having been quoted £1100 for a 2004 M3 Convertible and getting nowhere near with the Alpina. Quotes this morning have been ranging between £1800-£3000!!!

It seems many companies can't quote on this car so I wondered if there are any Alpina owners out there who have had similar experiences and can recommend a competitive insurer to me?

Many thanks in advance,

James.

Have you tried Adrian Flux ? They are usually pretty good at unusual cars. FWIW I got a quote on an Alpina B10 yesterday on confused.com without any trouble at all.

Try through Barry Grainger Brokers a policy from Groupama Insurance Group. Very reasonable for Alpina's.

I bought my Alpina B10 V8 last year at 27 and pay just a little over £500 a year for it with Admiral. Is your Roadster gold plated or do you have more convictions than the old bailey?
