Hi,
Interested in a 1994 V8S I have seen but wish to know
1) Does it have catalyts
2) Can I fit these (I live in Sweden and to import a car after 1992, it needs to have cats) and will I need to adjust anything else?

I believe it has a 400HC motor (this was the slightly more powerful engine on the V8S I recall...)

thanks

This is a 1992 German V8S fitted with a cat. Note the enlarged exhaust downpipes over a non-cat car.

EDIT - you can also see the lambda sensor cable coming off the nearest downpipe.

As the 1994 car you are looking at is a very late S series car it surely would have had a cat when delivered, but this of course may have been removed at some point by an owner........

Hope it goes ahead and welcome to the world of V8S's.

HTH

I think cats were an option in about '91 and compulsory from about '92. They may have been removed from a '94 car for various reasons. smile Can't help with a pic to see what it looks like, but you ought to be able to get an idea from the Griffith and Chimera fora..

Not the best picture to show it but you can clearly see the exhaust manifolds on my pre cat are significantly different to those cat manifolds above

And just to confuse things, I have a pre-cat car with lambda sensors and a cat exhaust system on (as in the first photos but not connected to anything).

But there again, somehow I would hehe

They'd be compulsory on any car registered after 01/08/92 I doubt that stopped them registering them in advance and not finishing building them until the end of the year though. I seem to recall trying to interpret the chassis number on mine and concluding it was registered in april but not built until december.
