As mrs pits and I are starting a family I wondered what your experiences are for taking kids in the back of the new xks? Do they do the job well or is it wishful thinking? Trying to decide whether to go for the new xkr or the new xfr. The xf is usefully cheaper and more practical but I love the looks of the current xk and would prefer to get about in one while I still can.

The short answer is definitely a big no, kids don't fit in the back of a new XKR. Two reasons mainly, the seats are bucket ones and therefore no flat surface to properly support a car set, even though one is made. It will damage the leather guaranteed. Secondly any kiddie squeezed in the back, will really mean you won't get anybody in the front seat. I wouldn't even consider it, I would plump for an XFR. I reckon the XFR will hold it's value a bit better.

Either that or for the same money get a 2 year old Discovery 3 and a 2 year old XKR.

You can get a snowboard rack for the XK. Maybe the kids could hold to that smile

XFR looks way-cool though. Keep us updated!

I had a feeling that would be the case.

XFRs probably the way to go then, it's a fine looking car in it's own right but it's no XK,

then again, what is?

Buy an XKR and get a nanny and buy her a little run around for the kids.

Or an old mates wife suggested. "I think a Lambo is the idea car for a young mum, I'm sure I could get the kids seats fitted on the spoiler"

Depending on the age of the wee one Jaguar do a booster seat to fit the rear of the XK convertible. A friend's 4 year old daughter can sit comfortably for shortish journeys directly behind her.

My 4 year old's Graco booster seat also fits-ish.

I am also considering one of these XKR's or a 911, I think the might be a problem with baby seats judging by the size of the back buckets, also the 997 rears look bit bigger!!

the new XK definitely has alittle less room in the back and boot than the previous generation XK8/R. i get a baby seat in the back of our prevous XKR no problems. small kids/adults in the back of the previous XK8/R if the passenger seat is set forward alittle. toddlers no probs.
i didn't think it wouldn't have been possible to do the same in the new XKR.

With the verts I got the impression the back was much roomier than the previous one.
