Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this turbo k-series conversion and if it has ever been sucessfully completed?

I've found a few comments on the subject but nothing conclusive.

Any information much appreciated.

Thanks

Ben

Probably not helpful, but a friend of mine has a Rover T series turbo in an S1 which fits OK (just about).

Doesn't the turbo generate less power than the VVC?

I'd imagine it will physically fit, although you might need some specially fabricated exhaust bits, but you might have cooling problems. I seem to remember seeing it discussed on SELOC a while ago.

NWTony, was there alot of fabrication involved? are you using the standard management? and what is the weight increase?

Kambites, Cheers I registered over on the SELOC and found out lots of info in this thread: http://forums.seloc.org/viewthread.php?tid=132200&...

Given the cost of changing the engine and the power you'd get then you're probably better off visiting DVA or Kiwirog.

exactly - the cost of an engine change kit is going to be the same, whichever engine really ...in fact, if you are the first then its going to be more...so you can save a few quid on a cheap old Rover lump rather than a Honda or Audi...not much in the big scheme of things

I agree,

It looks like it would turn out a similar price to other more 'modern' conversions

The appeal to me would be if you could just swap one in with only plumbing and exhaust downpipe modifications, plug in the original turbo ecu and turn up the boost a bit and it's done.

Unfortunately it looks more complicated than that with exhaust manifold mods etc

I know nothing! Well it was weighed at 780kg and the rolling road gives it 200bhp at very low boost. Somebody else started the conversion, my mate has just added to it over time so I don't know how much trouble it was.
