As the title says! Does anyone have a standard 4.5 back box, in at least serviceable condition?

Until I find out about TCS's new exhaust system I'm looking for a cheap way to quieten down the cerb. I've listened to a few on youtube with decats and a standard backbox and they sound quite nice and a lot quieter than my current system. Maybe not quiet enough to get me on a UK track day but should be ok for my ring trip in July.

I thought I would try on here before I tried the breakers.

In my experience decat and standard back box on a 4.2 runs fairly consitently between 99 and 101 dB at 2/3 revs

my 4.5 is decatted and has two small rear boxes. it barks really well most people say it sounds like a motorbike. whilst driving if you want the radio on it has to be fairly loud but it sounds so good and loud. it has a sports stainless steel exhaust. sorry i dont have any rear boxes but cannot see why you want one

This is mine, I love the sound (most of the time) but I want to do trackdays and the ring so I need a quieter option.

I paid £160 for a new one from a fellow PH'er last year. Cuts the noise down a bit (not been on a track day, so don't know by how much), but makes the car sound smoother. '97 4.2 with complete 4.5 system (de-cats and standard back box)

£200 from a dealer not outrageous, maybe you could be cheeky and ask if they'd throw in fitting for that price smile

fittings not a problem I'm up on ramps with the exhaust off at the minute anyway so I'd put the backbox on when I put everything back together. I was hoping to get a used box for less than that, like I say this is a temporary thing so didn't want to spend a lot.

Have a word with one of the companies that sells the sports exhausts. Most people leave their old system behind to be dumped/weighed in.

Might be worth having a word with TVR Power

As already said any of the garages that do swaps for after market systems will have standard back boxes laying around waiting to be skipped, ring around.
