After reading a thread on snow and parents been able to sue if their child falls and hurts themselves, i decided to find out stupid stuff that you did as a kid that you enjoyed. Stuff that your parents could have sued companies/council/owners for...
I'll start.
When i was 13, there was an old Willow tree in our village, wasn't sure how old it was but it was about 30-40 feet tall, and one day i decided i would try to impress my friends by swinging from the branches tarzan style, this worked great, so naturally been a kid i had to make it more fun, by going higher and swinging faster, this also went well, so the next step was to climb to the highest part of the tree i could get too and swing, this bit didn't go too well, i managed to complete the first part of the swing but on the way back up, the branches snapped i went flying onto the road, luckily there where no cars coming, i broke my arm in 3 places and required 14 stitches to my head. Not sure exactly who was to blame but i'm sure some solicitor would have been able to find someone to sue. My parents would never have done it tho and neither would I.

I used to play in the schoolyard opposite my grandma's house.
It was always locked up cos I was only there during school holidays, but you could get through the fence.
The fence itself was big concrete posts with a concrete crossbeam, that nasty concrete that has shells and small pebbles and stuff set in it.
There was only one gap you could get through cos it was slightly wider than the others.
True to form I miscounted one day and went through the wrong one and got my head stuck.
Cue my grandmy liberally smearing my head with butter and draggin me out backwards taking all the skin off my ears, whilst telling me to "Cry then cos I'll pee less"
Could sue the council for a dangerous fence these days.

When I was at school one of the lads in a different form group got a paperclip fired through his cheek. A craze had broken out where they were using "safe" office equipment to enact their sins.
He was lucky he didn't lose an eye. I wasn't there but apparently there was a lot blood!!
The head teacher had the whole school in assembly, preaching about the dangers of misbehaviour.

Eh? Who exactly? Sue the council because their trees have branches on them?!Gassing Station | The Pie & Piston Archive | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
