Driving Kent --> Greenock - what are the roads like?

Hi all,
I'm supposed to be driving up to my brother-in-law's with the family today, but can't seem to find a good site to give an idea of what the road conditions are like (and according to the news it's treacherous), so is there anyone who has been using the M1, M6, A74, or A8 today and would like to advise what they are like?
