I know that Lotus can retrim pretty much everything, through dealers or hanger 111.

Does anyone know the best place to get items retrimed other than this service, or any experience of the above?

I was thinking retriming the following on my S2 Elise:

Dashboard (Whole)(Non super touring type dash);
Gearbox tunnel;
Rear bulkhead (platic trim behind seats).

TBH, when I needed a new headlining on my Excel the factory price was 1/3 of the lowest quote I got anywhere else - and the guy who fitted it was one of the team who did the originals on the production line. They even improved the trim level slightly (replaced some vinyl with leather) because it was easier for them.

I thought other places would be cheaper.... but basically you cannot beat them. They obviously done every type of re-trim there is so they have experience of complex curves and angles and as long as yoru reasonably close to a main stealer they can manage the delivery boths ways etc.

Speak to Mel in the workshop. Great bloke. Save time and trust us !

I've always used Mel at Lotus and I can't recommend them enough, takes a little time for the turn around but you can't beat them

Lotus trim shop is OK, I certainly wouldn't give them full marks for the work that I had done before. If I'd not have been so peed off that they screwed my first seat order up, I'd have sent the second attempt back (somehow they managed to scratch lines across the carbon leather that they'd put Lotus Sport logo stitching on, on the seat back). Thinking back, I'm amazed I didn't!

It's certainly not as good as a good coachworks, but sadly they are few and far between these days. Have a look in the local yellow pages for trimmers and have a chat to them to see what they can do.

You could try Allon White in Cranfield Bedfordshire. They are Lotus/Morgan dealers and have an on site trimmers. They regularly retrim entire cars . I was looking to do my interior and they have all the lotus retrim materials . Even had the carbon effect from my 2001 racetech interior on the shelf.

I'm really love the job they did on my seats and sill covers. (Done by previous owner just before I bought it.)

Phil S,

That looks SWEET. Loving the lotus emblems on the seats!!

Was that done at Allon White?

Do you know how much it cost the previous owner?

Am currently looking to buy an 05 111R and am thinking that would be a decent MOD to go for - it may appease my girlfriend a little bit... HA!

Cheers

I went to my nearest show room and saw the interior of the Jim clark special. so thinking along the lines of

Black with red stiching on the gearbox tunnel and then Black Alcantara round the top bit of dash with Red Alcantara around centre section and then Black Leather with Red Stiching for sill plates.

Just an idea to make the 111R a bit more special....

trimman on here comes highly reccommended. you can contact him on his profile.
(he was responsible for the Noble interiors, and now works out of their factory)

Cheers. I think it was sent back to Lotus for the retrim, so you can do this through any dealer. I believe it cost around £700, but can't find the receipt so can't be sure.
