Unable to unlock the drivers door xkr 2001

I am not able to unlock the drivers door. I am able to use the fob to unlock the doors, but only the passengers door opens. When I try to open the drovers door, nothing happens, I am not able to unlock the door by putting the key into the key hole on the outside of the drivers door. Also it does not work from the inside either i.e trying to open it via using the inside drivers door handle. When I try to lock the passenger door, the passenger door goes through a lock/unlock/lock/unlock process etc and sometimes the alarm goes off, because I would suspect the locking procedure fails and then and more often than not the passenger doors decides to lock. I heard in the drivers door that there is some clicking going on, at what seems to be just behind where the drivers inside door handle is.

My first issue is I cannot get the door card off because I cannot get the drivers door opened.

My second issue is to somehow to get the drivers door open.

The third is how to fix the unlocking issue.

Also the car has been standing unused for a few weeks, but.... the charge is good enough to start the car.......

Any ideas or does the car need to go down to the garage I hope not.

Also this happened a few weeks ago same symptons, but after about a 1/2 hour drive home, out of desperation I opened the passenegsrs door as we were moving, i.e to turn off the self locking and the drivers door opened, but of course the fault has now returned

Thank you, I have spoken to Tom and have the car booked in for the 16th Feb, Thank you for the contact details. His hourly rate if so much better than Jaguars!!!!

I take it as you have spoken to Tom you have his details.
If not he is at Eversley just north of BlackBush Airport that is allong the A30 the other side of Camberley

Depends where you are in Surrey, maybe best to come off the M3 at J4a
Take the A327 to pick up the A30
West allong the A30 to the other end of Blackbush
Then north again on the A327
At the next roundabout in 2 miles take the 2nd off on the B3272
He is 1/2 mile on the right
