Really hope this happens, should give us more chance of having a stable US GP and hopefully a return to Canada.

But why would a US organisation set up when there is no local event for them? Another team would be great, but I don't see the commercial logic the way you express it - were there a local showcase for them yes, but trying to persuade Bernie where he has ignored the commercial reality of the current manufacturers seems unlikely.

It would make an American GP more likely to be reinstated. Tony George's problem was that he couldn't get title sponsors to fund his show (such as Foster's or Santander for British GP), although he had to pay Bernie the big cheque regardless. Also, unlike a lot of circuits, Indianapolis does not exactly need to indulge the F1 egomaniacs in order to get itself credibility.
Also, there are loads of American companies that are looking to expand the global profile. They are thought to be more likely to do this behind an American team, just as Denso and Panasonic have put big money behind Toyota.
I don't know if they'll bring it off, at the same time that NASCAR is really feeling the pinch, but you could argue that if the cost of running a potentially-successful team were to drop by 80%, as is mooted, they'd have half a chance.

I hope you are right. A world championship which does not include any event in North America can hardly be called a World event, just as a World series which only takes place in North America has very dubious claims to the word "World".

I can honestly say that F1 dropping both North American races is one of the stupidest things it has done this century. If I was CEO of MB or BMW, with a huge customer base out there, I'd be livid. Maybe the CVC sell-out was the dumbest decision, but this is close...

Yes, I suppose that an English baseball team ought to be fighting it out with the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox.

Cars conforming to different regulations have made up the grid for GPs in the past so it's not a completely new idea. It's still just a bit potty though.

I wouldn't know - 22 men chasing a piece of pig bladder and cow skin around a field is slightly less interesting than watching paint dry in my view. And much less so if the paint were a yet to be decided shade of blue and on a car
