Changing the steering wheel

Jusst changed mine at xmas, but opted for the easy option and paid our local mechanics to do the labour.
Need to purchase
1) The momo wheel
2) The converter hub (decide whether you want the snap-off one or the standard permanent one)
3) Decide if you want to purchase the Lotus Horn Push, if you dont want the Momo one.
Pay your local mechanic around half an hour to an hour in labour.
PS Our mechanics, who are all highly trained, highly trusted etc etc said it was a git to fit, even though it was purchased through a Lotus site, they still had to fiddle and improvise, espcially with the horn push.
Some people may be able to fit themselves, as I was debating it, but opted for the easy option, being a spaz mechanic.

Thanks for the comments - the reason for changing, apart from cosmetics, is I found the original one too shiny and didnt offer much grip - especially in the summer when blasting around the country enjoying the sun with slightly sweaty mitts. The momo has a much grippier surface, anad because its a slightly 'offset' circle, means you can intuitively feel which way its facing.

I put a sparco suede one on mine last year, there's a pic on the thread if you can find it, looks a bit like the supaquad above but a bit more subtle, bought kit and fitted myself from eliseparts.com, no problem fitting if you've got the right tools but there are things that can go wrong so get a mechanic if you're not brave. I got a lotus horn push (extra) as well (see pics on thread).
I've done this so that I can fit a spacer. It was dead easy to do, but the only problem was that I needed to make a puller up to get the old wheel off. When it finally came off it came with one hell of a bang and a jolt!!
By the way, Momo do a wheel that's near identical in size and shape to the original Lotus wheel. When I bought my Momo wheel it was called the "Tuner".

Personally I think the Lotus Nardi is hard to beat. Perfect size in all dimensions. Most of the snap-off replacements look pretty average by comparison IMO.
It's a nice wheel, but the security benefits of the snap-off boss are too important to me (I don't have a garage)... I'm using a sparco suede wheel now which isn't quite as nice as the Nardi OEM wheel (and won't last as long before going shiny, but the wheel is easily replaceable) but I like it. Oddly enough it got a very warm welcome from the guys at the last LoT trackday I went to...Annoyingly, the Nardi OEM wheel is built with that huge frame inside the centre and can't be used with any other bosses, and not with the snap-off kit.
