Local hospital is sh*t

Fair play, Grandad has been back and forth for 3 years, coughing and not eating properly.
3 years ago, he went for a check up, came back with some anamolys on his CT results, my first words "Its the Gwent, it will be cancer"
3 years later....guess what, "we have found cancer in his stomach"
This is not first time they have failed, botched an op my dad had, got him on a concotions ofdrugs which could of been fatal. Then mates grandad was rushed in, after 4 years of check ups, finding nothing...week later he was dead, and they found the cancer.
Quite strange though, I feel unnaffected because I knew all along that the Gwent hospital is a shower of s
t, and it would be cancer.

It's a sad situation you are in, but there are two sides to every story.
Sorry to hear about these incidents, they sounds terrible and should not happen.
The NHS does make mistakes, but on the whole, they do a great service treating millions of patients. We can all name mistakes that people in the NHS have made, but look at the NHS as a whole and the story is not a bad one. This hospital sounds like it needs some things sorting, but waiting times have come down (95% treated within 18 weeks) from over a year.
Private doctors are the same ones who work in the NHS. Will making it private make any real difference?

PS I don't work/have never worked in the NHS, but my wife has and also runs an 18 week project for a trust

You do know it's the same doctors, don't you...My cousin is a Private ENT Surgeon and he works Two days a week for his local NHS hospital for NOTHING as do a lot of the highly trained staff ! He feels he has to put something back as they provided the training for his high earning private practice.
The difference between NHS and private care is absolutely immense .

Total codswallop. Maybe you have had a bad experience, I don't know...I won't go into details but both my wife and one of my sons owe their lives to the NHS over the last couple of years in seperate incidents....
Care and aftercare was 100% first class, no complaints whatsoever.
This is not knocking private healthcare...I'm just sticking up for the NHS....

My local NHS hospital nearly killed my daughter ! Wrong drugs,wrong care a complete nightmare! When the African doctor came to the bedside an TRIED to get enough English Language out of his mouth to tell me he was going to open her up in the morning,I though ENOUGH grabbed her notes(Doctor and nurses went potty,not that i was taking their patient!Just worried about the medical notes!) picked her up and drove her to the nearest private hospital.
The consultant in the private hospital was HORRIFIED at what had gone on (Drugs and treatment) to the extent that he had no option than to report them.
I do accept that they are not all bad,but my experiances have always been very Grim.

I can understand your point of view then, I was just going off my experience, which was of a satisfied "customer"....
There are lots of dedicated, capable, selfless people working for the NHS. They make the system work in spite of its faults.
Unfortunately, there are plenty of useless, lazy and incompetent people in the NHS. The whole organisation needs a clearout of the dead wood. The trouble is that the culture of the NHS will not allow that to happen. Private healthcare isn't perfect but it is generally more focussed on output rather than its employees.
