Radio traffic flashes - spoof info trend?

Last couple of mornings in Northants/Cambs area there have been plainly wrong traffic reports on local radios stations. Example this morning was '6 mile tailback on A14 east, around J16 due to lorry running off road'. I joined at j12 heading east just as this and similar started being broadcast and there was no hint of a problem right the way through the reputedly stricken area. They later stated 'police have no reports but someehting's occurring...'; then 'tailbacks are easing'

What a very good idea. Why didn't I think of that? Phone the local radio stations and report a massive jam on your intended route so half of the traffic goes someplace else.

This morning's is a 'jacknifed lorry' on the A14 at Spittals; plainly nonsense

No apian or porcine hazards 'though (would be much more plausible)
