Blackberry Bold, anyone done anything exciting to/with it?

Mines just arrived and after a four year old Blueberry its a revelation to me. ( I do live in Suffolk)
Has anyone found any interesting programmes, downloads etc to fascinate colleagues and friends?

Vlingo is quite amusing.

BBC iplayer downloader (http://po-ru.com/projects/iplayer-downloader/) is a must. Copy URL from bbc iplayer vid into the downloader and then use media manager to copy over to the Bold. You can then watch Antiques Roadshow to your hearts' content.

I've dropped mine a couple of times. Does that count as exciting?

I tried using the Vodaphone satNav but couldn't get it to work.

Send it back to your network provider for an upgrade to take it to the stable release of the OS? That is what most people do!



Actually, being rather harsh. Chances are that since you have waited, you will get the upgraded one anyway. The first few batches delivered to the UK had something like a 60% failure and return rate....

Indeed. I had one a few months back for about 4 hours. It was returned as "unfit for purpose".

No probs with mine yet, did try uploading some girly vids and that jammed it up completely but that was most probably my fault runs OK now ive deleted them though!

Will try I player, oooh I can observe the welsh lass from Gavin and Stacey on a plane excellent.

You can get a Facebook app for BBerry, so you can flirt online all day

Also the BB media manager is pretty good at talkiing to iTunes for MP3 on your phone.

I have an 8900- not a bold, but runs the same applications..

BBalerts- lets you set different color LED alerts for different things. For example, I have purple for sms, blue for email, white for BB messenger, green for voicemail....VERY cool app. Free for a week- then $12 one off purchase :http://www.bbymelsoftware.com/bbalerts/

Free app called Buzzeme- which lets it ring and vibrate at the same time (instead of the alternate ring-vibrate-ring as standard...) - essential and free.

Oh- and google maps is superb on blackberrys

Oh, and Google Maps 3.0 is out for the Blackberry (and a few other devices). It includes Latitude which allows you to share your location with other friends. Quite a cool location based service, but requires everyone else to have Google maps. Not great, but good for some tracking / stalking.

Snap, and on the 3rd time I broke the latch on the back case (battery managed to fly out each time I dropped it). Managed to pick up one of those rubber cases for it whilst on Tottenham court road yesterday.

Opera browser is pretty handy for viewing webpages properly; I converted to a Bold for work from previously using an iphone they are great phones though as far as 3rd party apps not fantastic. Highest score on Brickbreaker anyone??
