Any financial crystal ball owners on here? Wondering how long base rate will stay nice & low - am tempted to move my fixed rate mortgage to a SVR one....

I was just checking on here to see if anyone had posted this as Im thinking the same...
Took mine out last june on a 3 year deal at 5.8% (£116k). Its £2k to get out of it and no doubt another arrangement fee (the lot would be paid up front instead of adding it onto the mortgage)

Any experts care to give any advice as to whether this would be a good deal?

With both of you it hinges on your LTV on the mortgage (i.e can you get to the most competitive rates) amd how long you want the new rate to last.

I'm not sure going to SVR is a sensible long term solution, better to keep an eye out for a decent fixed rate that lasts a while.

Just looked at the deals offered, and to be honest we're no better off really. If we had 75% LTV (We're about 85 currently) then there would be some good deals about (saving around £250 a month) but instead we're being offered fixed rates which arent any better than what we're on now.
