Those are models, rather than brands. They relate to different model years though, so our 05 5.7 and 05 6.0 are both VZ models. I'm sure Tim the poolman will explain all when he sees this...

Our 04 Monaro is a V2 series IIRC.

Simple answer.
2 model years were sold in UK by VX 04 and 05 (production was ended in 05)

UK 04 (big boot) CV8 = OZ 'V2/III' model Holden Monaro CV8 5.7 litre 333BHP
UK 04 (big boot) VXR = OZ 'Y2' series HSV GTO 5.7 litre 384BHP
UK 05 (small boot and nostrils) CV8 = OZ 'VZ' model Holden Monaro CV8 5.7 litre 354BHP
UK 05 (small boot and nostrils) VXR = OZ 'Z series' HSV GTO 6.0 litre 404BHP

and just to confuse things the Pontiac GTO sold in US is not the same as an OZ HSV GTO, as no HSV's were ever exported to US, they are LHD CV8's but specc'd diferently and had 6.0 litre engine.

I think its 500NM which in old money seems to be anywhere from 340ft/lb to 369ft/lb? also horse power has been quoted as 345 to 354hp? ...I just gotsta know.......

Anorak on (for motomk)

Holdens have always used alphabetic letters for model designations.

The first such was FJ in 1953, but the very first Holden in 1948 was called the 48-215. Mostly now its called the FX.

er no. A big boot is a V2 series III or equivalent to a VYII Commodore built from mid 2003 to mid 2004. So you can have a 2003 or 2004 Big boot and a 2004 or 2005 VZ (small boot)! They did start building VZ's in 2004 but none of the VZ Monaros had big boots. The VZ's also had the nostrils.
Your VXR cars are essentially a HSV GTO not a Pontiac GTO which as mentioned is a hybrid of both!
The V2 series III in Oz had LS1 245kw engines (Big Boot Monaro)
The V2 series III HSV GTO had LS1 285kw engines (Big Boot Monaro...your early VXR's)
The VZ Monaro had a LS1 260kw engine Electronic throttle as opposed to cable. (small boot)
The VZ HSV GTO had the LS2 297kw engine Electronic throttle as opposed to cable. (small boot)
If that is not right somebody will correct me!
As I have said before don't get me started on the SV8's they are really tricky...there were more or less 3 VZ versions!!
There was also the HSV GTS Coupe which was the 300kw Calloway engined variety but I think only one made it to the UK.

Up to VT series I (mid 1999) the V8 used was the Holden V8. From then on the LS1 and its derivatives were used.
