Campsites and the tram.

What campsite is near the stop?

Last year we stayed in Maison Blanc, which as we found out is bloody long walk from the tram stop.

This year we are staying at Houx, but I can't remember where the tram stop(s?) is (Probably due to too much beerage in Le Mans town ).

The map on the TVRCC web site is ste and doesn't seem show it.

Houx is pretty close - 5 minute walk maybe.

The tram stop is over towards Tetre Rouge, just the other side of the bridge under the circuit.

It goes even closer and stops by Houx Annexe roundabout.

TL site is pretty much at the bridge under Tertre rouge/Mulsanne. So they are about as close as you can get.

Good news That's where we're staying this year, might actually make it into Le Mans town at last!

The stop is by the new entrance at the back of the circuit, it's the end of the line so you can't miss the stop

It also stops outside Carrefour...alot easier to do the food shop than trying to get a vehicle out or even back in!

The nearest campsite this year will be Houx Annexe (the part that was Nord last year) By the looks of recent pics, Sud is now a big tarmac carpark

If you on one of the campsites inside the circuit then the Antares stop is the easiest to get to - head along the road towards Tetre Rouge past the entrance to Houx/Houx Annex and right at the Houx Annex roundabout.

If your outside the circuit then the Guetteloup-Pole Sante Sud stop will be easiest - head past the main entrance, follow the road under the motorway and it's just up the road towards Center Sud and it's just after the roundabout.

That's really useful, thanks. For the avoidence of doubt, and given the downloadable pdf version of the map you link to has a grid reference, how about giving us the actual grid reference, if possible?

I shouldn't worry too much about that, we walked to the tram stop from Karting Nord last year for the trip into town on Friday. It was even easier walking back, although I don't remember much about it, apart from going to a Danish disco later in the evening...

Much as I hate trams, the tram at le mans is brilliant. We used it a lot last year:

1) Its air conditionned.
2) As everyone says, its stops where you need it to stop- circuit, tetre rouge, carrefour etc
3) it stops close to the parade des pilotes circuit as well
4) Its cheap
5) its quick

the terminus stop is here 47°57'22.04"N 0°13'19.54"E

And tetre rouge is about here:

One tram-tip, you can buy a ticket that's good for 10 single trips and is valid for more than one day. Don't know how long they are valid for but it does mean you can buy them on say Thursday (when the station is empty) and just walk up and jump on for the drivers parade (avoiding the queue of English, German, Danish, etc non-French speakers trying to figure out the French-only ticket machine).

Most trams were running half-empty because only 10 people could work the machine between each tram arriving/departing!
