I just wondered if we could have a little list of helpful words.

For example

You're = you are, i.e. you're a t*t Piers.
Your = you own it, i.e. is that your car?

My pet hate:

Metres - a unit of measurement, Meters - devices used for measuring.

I am simply being a bit of a t*t I think (I have a headache so am in a mood), and complaining that there seem to be a hell of a lot of posters who cannot grasp some basic English and it irritates me, so I thought I would help by posting up some common mistakes so that people could check before posting.....

And as for a dictionary, you have to know how to spell the word before you can look it up....

their - of them
they're - they are

have - past tense of has
of - NOT past tense of has

pedant - a member of PH for whom spelling and grammar are important
peasant - everyone else

I think he wants a list of commonly misused or incorrectly spelled words for our vocabularily challenged bretheren.

Not with Firefox you don't! Built in spell checker you see. And it has an English(UK) dictionary, so no silly foreign spellings either.

Although it won't help if wrong order the words in are.

How about "Their" - denoting possession, nothing at all to do with "there" or "they're".

Whilst we're about it, can everyone just stop writing the word "definately" or "definate". Neither word exists ; the word "definite" definitely does.

Oh, and "too" much is not seen nearly enough. "To" much is seen much too much.
