BG fancies a crack at this:

http://pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f...

... as do I. As mentioned in that thread, I would have a hard time justifying it, but I thought perhaps if more locals were on for it, I might use the sheer weight of people going as justification.

Anyone else tempted? Anyone want to take things further than just wishing they could go?

I'd be interested in this.

I'd have to persuade myself to put 2400 miles on the Clio, but I suppose it wouldn't matter for two reasons:

1. Its French
2. Its there to have miles put on it.

A variation I did about fifteen years ago is to drive via all the counties of mainland England, Wales and Scotland by the shortest route.

OK then, I'll work on softening up my wife and will come up with a suitable date over the next week. It'll probably need to be in the Spring. As much as I'd love to attempt this in this weather, I suspect we'd need far more than a single weekend.

OK, broached the subject and predictably it was met with a rather negative response. I'm not working at the mo and the MarsMobile only manages somewhere between 17-25mpg which means a LeJoG will be expensive (likely to be nearer the 17mpg-end if we start "enjoying" ourselves in the cars).

However, things are looking up. There are more vacancies being posted every week. I have confidence I'll be working soon... and then there's nothing going to stop me.

I'd be up for LeJoG too, but seem to be in a similar position to Mars...when that next contract comes round I'll be 100% up for it.

Had a good friend who has done this every year since it started. He sadly passed away just before christmas, but not until he had secured his second world champion ship title.

I crewed for him a couple of times and it was a great event, well worth the entry, and good sport..

Heres to Malcom Pickering Nice bloke, and enthusiastic driver!!
