C4S has arrived. Any advice re paintwork protection. OPC recommending Autoglym? Is there any wheel protection?

I wouldn't bother with Autoglym. Put a nice coat of Zymol on the car when it's nice and clean, then get Armourfend put on the front PU, wheel arches and maybe mirrors.

The A/F is likely to cost about £500 to £750, but worth it and not really noticeable. You could even think about doing the bonnet as well.

Put AF on the trailling edges of the rear wheel arches too! The paint gets hammered with gravel and stuff there, the rear PU`s with water-based paint are too soft to cope with the normal conditions of the road.

Just to put an alternative view, I had A/F on my last car (fitted by A/F) and although it stopped 90% of stone chips, it looked pretty crap whilst on (the edges were very visible), and it didn't stop *all* stone chips.

Not knocking it... if you put it on, and then take it off before you sell, you'll get more bucks back, as you'll have stopped many chips.

IMHO - it just looks a bit pants when its on. (My local OPC now advises against for the same reason)

But hey...

Yes I agree, I have got it on the front of the rear arches and it looks pretty afwul to be honest. The colour of the car (black) may have some bearing on it though.

Had armoufend on my ferrari, very expensive, it shows up on the car badly and even though it was fitted direct by armourfend the finishing was poor. They never did rectify it once they had been paid.

secondly. although it stops many stone chips it does NOT stop them all and when a stone penetrates the film looks b awful!!

save the money for a touchup respray and dont drive a car that looks like its covered in cling film!

Thanks 355f, thats exactly what Porsche swindon said. Reckon I'll go for the blood sweat and tears and spend my one day off aweek polishing the bodywork.
