there is big difference between a tuned 535d and a standard one so you would have noticed! I would say either it was allready tuned (your tuner would have known if it was mapped as soon as he read the file,)or your guy has re-installed the standard map instead of the modified file from his lap top.

Who re-mapped it. If it had a file already on it, they would have to have wiped it and re-wrote a new one. So they would know its already mapped.

I thought remappers took your current mapping, and modded it. Certainly the guys who did mine did.

Therefore they would have known it was a modded one as they were working on it?

Been in chipped 535d msport today and it pulls like a train it cost £60.00 of ebay for the box 10 mins to fit and what a differance it makes a fast smooth car into a very fast smooth car and for a round £1.00 per bhp it was great value and it still returns 30/35mpg around town.

60 quid for a chip? are you having a laugh?

The cheapest 335d tuners I know of are 300 pounds. Some charge upto 800-900 pounds.

A plug in tuning module is 300 pounds.

More info on this 60 pound jobby mate please. I wouldnt want a 60 pound ''chip'' in my bmw turbo.

THE CAR I HAD BEFORE THE 535D WAS A REALLY FAST CAR, IT WAS A 330CI WITH A ESS STAGE 3 SUPERCHARGER,0-60 UNDER 4.5 SECONDS. THEREFORE I FIND IT VERY HARD TO JUDGE THE PACE OF THE 535D,I HAD NOT DRIVEN A STANDARD ONE BEFORE BUYING IT, AS I SAID I THINK IT MUST HAVE REMAPPED WHEN I BOUGHT IT. THE GUY WHO REMAPPED THE CAR TOOK THE ECU OFF THE CAR TO DO IT. IT WAS THEN PLUGGED IN TO SOME SORT OF DEVICE WHICH TOOK ABOUT 45 MINUTES. I WAS TOLD THAT THE MORE STICK I GAVE THE CAR IN NEXT 24HOURS, WOULD MAKE THE CAR QUICKER. I AM NOT SAYING HE DID NOT REMAP IT ,BUT THE CAR DOES FEEL ANY FASTER THAN WHEN I TOOK IT TO HIM. THE PEOPLE WHO REMAPPED IT ARE B&W CHIP TUNE BASED IN HOUNSLOW. I AM NOW THINKING OF TAKING IT TO DMS,BUT THEN I THINK I MIGHT BE WASTING MY MONEY. ONE THING I FORGOT TO SAY IS, I DID ASK THE GUY IF HE COULD REMAP IT TO GET A FEW MORE MPG. BUT I AM ALMOST SURE HE GAVE ME NEAR THE SAME BHP AND TORQUE FIGURES AS DMS CLAIM. I AM TOLD THAT A COMPANY CALLED EVOLVE REMAP THE CAR AND PUT IT ON A DYNO, PERHAPS THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE REAL DEAL.

B&W have a very good reputation so it will deffo be remapped. The £60 ebay thing ( Abrieb ? ) if it was the same as mine worked very well gave plenty power. I time all my cars on the same bit of road and it was deffo quicker. On saying that the fuel pressure must have been through he roof to get that sort of performance out of a box. I have Evolve remap now and 100% happpy goes like a train.

Maybe i'd chance one on some £1500 passat or something, but i think saving money on a £60 'box is a recipe for false economy.

Evolve in Luton are very good, give them a buzz to discuss if you are unsure.

Although it has to be said that the amount of money charged for most chip tuning is ridiculously high though.

Its "just" a new engine management map, so you're paying £300-£900 for what is effectively a few KB of data.

Nice money if you can get it!

I'd get it checked out, sounds like it may have already been mapped. If so, you'll want to go to someone who has an original file available too just in case, like DMS.

Nothing wrong with tuning boxes on the D's, heard good things about the DTS box at 300 quid. Everything else (specifically off ebay et al) is just taking a risk IMO.

I'd go back to the 330ci AND SHUT UP!
