I'm seriously into car ICE and was wondering why there isn't a dedicated section for sound system lovers on this forum?

when they make in-car entertainment that improves handling and performance I'm sure the powers that be will add a section wink

the same can be said for other sections on this web site, but they're still here?

plenty of I.C.E forums if this floats your boat, it kind of goes against the "speed matters" part of PH

phil your not the right site, nor is your mate who wants to put a £1K sound system in his car.

Chances are your here to wind everyone up and be a troll by name and nature.

I would recommend you visit barrboys, Max Power or the alike you'll fit in like a gem there, whereas here your a sore thumb taking up space and wasting your time.

Unless your committed to change your attitude on cars and go for performance enhancement rather than I.C.E enhancement you will fit in well.

Phil,

You'll more than likely get advice on how to upgrade what you've got. I asked about the depth of the door on my Tiv for example when I wanted to substitute the crappy old factory fit speakers for something that didn't make farty noises when I turned up the volume. Over and above that, big power setups which effectively turn a car into a wheeled nightclub generally don't fit the ethos. Thats not to say that they don't exist on these boards, just that information and help is probably better sought elsewhere on forums dedicated to exactly that.

Hang about. Enjoy the banter but info and guidance about amps and subs are probably better sought elsewhere.

Why are people recommending Barryboys? They are into performance/handling modifications too.

They do have an I.C.E section but I think it was probably added rather reluctantly.

Think you'll find the only ice people on this site are actually interested in is the sort that "clinks" in a tumbler wink

That's pretty much the reason, there are even a large number of 'I never even turn on the radio, I just listen to the engine (even stuck in a traffic jam on the M25) diehards'

That being said, if you have a serious question and need advice then you'll probably get the answers you need if you ask (as long as it is not 'What is the biggest speaker I can fit in a Saxo?')

It is. I'm somewhat perplexed by people recommending the site as a place for audio advice..! It's about taking the chronic and absolute piss out of badly-modified cars. Even better when the scrotes arrive to try and justify their motorised abortions.

As for an ICE section on here....well, someone pointed out recently that not all of us buy or run cars with the sole purpose of going as fast or as noisily as possible. Lots of folks have daily drivers that suit other requirements, and it's not unfair to assume that many of them will be looking for the 'creature comforts' such motoring requires such as decent audio.

In-car installs don't have to be chavvy, they can be discrete and a massive improvement over the st some manufacturers fit as standard (are you listening BMW?). With the collective experience and knowledge of the PH user base, it's fair to assume that there may be a large group of people who're into this, just as there's a 'Watches' forum, a 'Home Cinema & Hi-fi' forum and a 'Scale Models' forum (in fact, looking at that last one, I'd wager that there'd be more call for an 'In-car Entertainment' forum than one for scale models!).

Perhaps the 'requirement' for one appears low because at present such requests get lost in the noise on the other fora?

I've gotten huge amounts of advice on how to sort out the crap system coming in the 123d from BMW forums, however I'm in no doubt that with the larger user-base here there would be just as much (if not more) expert advice on here as well.

Just my $0.02.
