Today I have mostly been...

...trying on lovely watches.

The other half of my job (running PH) is looking after a magazine called Classic & Sports Car, and that took me to Paris yesterday for the annual Retromobile show. In the world of classic cars watches are a big deal - many clients and collectors have more than a passing interest in them.

So today I've been seeing clients, talking about cars, and talking about watches. Tried on a few interesting pieces belonging to various dealers, clients and friends, including;



Which was stunningly, beautifully and exquisitely detailed. SO well made. I didn't really get these watches until now, and I'm still not a fan of the looks. As a feat of engineering however, it really is quite a special piece.

Then it was one of these:



Now want one of these more than ever. Just lovely, particularly on a tan NATO strap.

Whilst I was there, I tried on one of these



Also lovely, but probably quite far down the list at present.

As a change, one of these. It was also beautiful, quite rare and very well preserved.



And lastly, although I didn't get to try this on, I happened to notice one good acquaintance very casually wearing one of these



Given the cars that he owns, I've no reason to believe that it's anything other than the real thing.

So, all in all a good day.
