Any one experienced the Mercedes breakdown recovery service, they offer a car from Europcar if they are unable to repair. As far as I’m aware no other car manufacturer has a similar arrangment.Problem is if you have a big car they only guarantee to get you moving again, prestige cars are far and few between, so we offered a Mondeo ! If i wished to drive a Ford I would have purchased a Ford. Anyone likewise experienced a whole Friday afternoon waiting to be told this ?

Never had a problem with the recovery service, but then they have always got me moving (flat battery on a CL with keyless-go left at airport for 3 weeks, GL with flat battery after OH used an 12v hairdryer with the engine off!)

Mercedes Assistance is operated by Mondial Assistance. Last year the gearbox on my SLK 55 AMG developed a problem and wouldn't select gear, I phoned Mercedes and within the hour a local recovery truck arrived (at home) and took the car to the dealer of my choice. Mercedes Assistace offer a hire car through Enterprise, within 5 minutes of my inital call to Mercedes, Enterprise called me to arrange to deliver a car, I actually said "it's an AMG that's broken, down please don't send me a Nissen Micra!" Within 2 hours Enterprise delivered a brand new Mercedes S320 initally for 3 days, my SLK was off the road for about 10 days waiting for parts and I kept the S320 throughout leaving it the MB dealer when my I collected the repaired SLK, excellent service! I know BMW operated the same system, years ago I had a 5 Series recovered in London and taken back to Winchester and was given a hire car, also had the same with a BMW motorcycle, the bike was recovered and a hire car delivered, as I remember the BMW scheme was also operated by Mondial Assistance. Regards, Rob

Mercedes seem to be moving into partnering with the RAC now. Training has gone across to them, so breakdown cant be long.

almost all car manufacturers have this arrangement! they don't make cars just to lie about and be used for breakdown requirements you see, they prefer to sell them..
