Airfix 1:24th Scale mossie - CAD on youtube

This is a video of the CAD behind the design of the new 1:24th scale mosquito from Airfix, it shows how the parts go together and the way the kit has been designed so that any version of the mosquito should be fairly easy to produce in future. It's the same video that was on display on the Airfix stand at SMW last November but for those that haven't seen it it's quite interesting.
Also there are some shots of an early test shot here as well as some more new airifx shots - the 1:48th Sea Vixen has moved into 2nd place on my wish list (Just after the aforementioned Mossie although I've no idea where I'll put it!)

I don't care how expensive it is, I'm definitely going to buy one. If it's as detailed as the 1/32 Corgi Mossies I have then it will be a winner.

That's impressive, I must confess I didn't realise how well armed the Mosquito was! Quite a weapons platform eh!
The armament varied hugely. The photo Mossies had none at all. Neither had the pure bomber variants (apart from their bombs, of course). The ground attack and night fighter variants were, of course, well "tooled up".
Update to this: Someone on the Airfix Tribute Forum has been to the factory and taken photos of the latest test build:

It needs registration so here are the photos:

I love seeing videos like this. Would be amazing to see a full size version from one of the car makers
A CAD assembly from a Car makers would be insane in the number of parts and the power of the PC required to do that Cad unexplodePretty mind blowing stuff to be honest:

Has it got removeable panels or is all that internal detail lost as soon as you glue the engine covers/nose cone, etc in place?
Let's face it, it's Airfix, so in the end it will probably be crap. and £130??? Don't think so!IMO the trouble with such a large scale model is that the detail requirement goes up almost exponetionally with size, so even though it looks really detailed, it probably won't look that amazing in the flesh when finished. You'd have to model every single pipe clip and screw to do a model in that sale justice.
It doesn't look HALF as good as Tamiya's new 1:32 Spitfire, which is a smaller scale, but still manages to have more detail than Airfix's 1:24 Mosquito:

Check out that engine & the photographic reference book: Tamiya know how to make models...

That really is stonking - 0.4mm thick removable panels held with magnets too.Poor old Airfix - just when they thought they'd produced a show stopper...
You are really down on Airfix, aren't you.
Of course they are not Tamiya - but they still make some unique models and for the average modeller they are still wortb a punt at times.
I do think £130 is a bit steep all the same. I still have a couple of £6.99 Airfix 1/72 Mossies to make - more my league.

It's just every time I bought an Airfix model I wished I hadn't. I've no idea why I continued to do it (or did it).Of course they are not Tamiya - but they still make some unique models and for the average modeller they are still wortb a punt at times.

Airfix reminds me of Rover in many ways...
BTW I *am* the average modeller, and still they disappoint me, which has got to be worrying.
