Just after a little advice please, currently my Gallardo is not being used very much and for the next few weeks / months the use it will receive will be very limited. A few weeks could go by that it won't even be started.

Is a battery conditioner a good idea? If so, what would you recommend?

Thanks in advance

i too have been thinking the same thing
my other car has a http://www.ctekchargers.co.uk/?gclid=CInik6SxypgCF... which simply plugs into the cig lighter socket
i'm not sure if the socket is always live on the lambo or if you'd need to wire it more directly to the battery
please let us know how you get on

is the battery accesable easily on the gallardo? if so i would go direct to the battery rather than via cig lighter. Ctek charger very easy to use, just attach terminals to battery then plug into mains.

It's at the front of the car in the boot. You have to take off a bit of plastic and it's in there. It's easy enough to get to i.e. to jump start, but to actually take it out is just a nightmare. I still am not quite sure how the mechanic got my one out when it got replaced.

Use a charger, and as said connect it to the battery in the front directly

I use a battery conditioner (not charger) on my Gallardo, I usually plug it in about once a month for a couple of days, never had a problem. Plug it into the cigarette socket between the seats, don't forget to leave the drivers window down about 5mm to allow the lead to come out of the car and the door to shut ensuring the interior light goes out! The conditioner I use is a Porsche make only because I already had it, I use an OptiMate conditioner on my bikes which is also very easy to use and excellent. Regards, Rob

I used an optimate on my gallardo. clipped straight to the battery, very easy to get at. You can get one from pretty much any motorcycle shop and only costs about £25.

se the CTEK. I have the two eyelets permanently connected to the battery and plug it into the mains when i intend to leave the car for a while. Just remember to unplug before reversing out of the garage and driving down the road. My 2nd CTEK arrived yesterday ......

So you can plug a ctek charger to the fag lighter in the G and it'll charge?

Nice one! I've got a Ctek which I've used on my Boxster so the cigarette lighter 'add-on' will be helpful!

It might just be me but you want a battery charger that runs off the cig lightter, surly what ever power you put into the battery will be used to power the charger.

Get one for the mains. You can get c tec ones wich attach to the battery and a plug hangs out of the battery flap and you plug the c tec onto it that way. Much easier and neater

no you charge the battery through the cigarette charger.

manual for my maser says not to do that though - guess the worry is it does something nasty to the electrics
