It's that time of year again and I've a feeling there will be a lot more growers this season.
Got most of my beds dug over and manured before the snows. Little tip: don't manure or compost carrot beds as they tend to split and grow into weird shapes. Off to the garden centre now to get me spuds.

I did my first bit of veg growing lasy year with some mixed results:

Potatoes I had loads of them and they were great. Lovely buttery little things.
Runner beans - again a plethora - and were very good with butter and a pinch of maldon.
Carrots - a bit crap to be honest. Carrot fly got a lot of them.
Leeks - were OK - although they were a bit small (wrong variety?)
Cabbage - got mullered by pests - didn't get a single one to eat.
Onions - were ok - a mix of red and whites.
Asparagus - has done ok i think - can't pick until year three though.

Don't know what to go for this year - potatoes and beans again without doubt. If anyone has any suggestions.

Bought my favourite spuds - Charlottes. I'm looking for a spud called Sarpo but can't find them in the garden centers though. Apparently they are extremely resistant to blight (suffered this the past two years on all my later crops). Googled this great website though.........

Check out what He says about Sarpos.
