Been shocking here in Melbourne today, nudged 47 to set a record for the hottest temp ever recorded in an Oz major city.
Many fires still burning with entire townships razed - they wont know the extent of it for a day or so I imagine. Seeing bushfires at full anger is one of natures fiercest elements - nout can be done to stop them in conditions like today; was like a giant heat gun blowing outside. Thoughts go out to those poor b
ds that have lost homes or worse.
Irony is that most of Nth Oz is now underwater with record floods whilst down here its dryer than a nun's clunge

Dreadful news, and to think that anyone would start a fire deliberately is beyond comprehension. The hottest I've ever encountered was 64 deg c in Iraq in 2003. It was disgusting.
I arrived at 2am and it was unbearable then, but when the heat started in the morning sun, I found it awful. I picked a bottle of water up and could have made tea with it....
At one point when I was outside in it I vomited. One lad in Kuwait actually keeled over and died.
