XJR-8 Chrome grille surround?

Saw a fellow XJ owner in the local morrisons car park with a chrome surround for his x308 grille and I've decided that I want one.

Problem is all the ones I can see on ebay for sensible money have vertical strips of chrome and I'd like to keep the mesh on my one.

Here's an expensive one on ebay. That's the surround I'm after;

I can't seem to find anybody on the interweb that sells them. Do I have no choice but to go to Jagwarr and get screwed for £284?

The vertical grey and chrome vanes and the coloured or chrome surround are all interchangable on the non supercharged XJ8.

Check first but perhaps you could buy a chrome surround from Eurojag or ebay and swap your mesh inserts over? If you end up buying one with good chrome vanes and not the dark grey ones that you don't need after you've fitted the mesh inserts - and you get them out without breaking the lugs -I'll give you some beer tokens for them.

Just to clarify Steve, you said for the "non-supercharged" they're interchangable?

So does that mean grilles for the XJ8 won't fit the XJR then?

No, the grille surrounds as far as I know are all interchangable.

I mentioned the s/c and n/a cars as I don't know for certain if the mesh on the s/c car will fit into a n/a grille, but I do know the two types of vanes - grey and chrome - on the n/a cars can be swapped. I can't see why there'd be any difference between mesh and grille fittings into the surround and thought you could buy a chrome surround, remove whatever grill type it had fitted and simply fit your meshes to get the look you want.

Give Eurojag a ring - they often have complete surrounds on ebay and should be able to tell you for sure if the mesh will fit a chrome surround. 01325 722778
