06 Vogue 4.4 - rev fluctuation

My Dad recently got a 4.4 and really likes it. When driving we have both noticed that on occasions when accelerating steadily the revs fluctuate very slightly whilst the car is building speed through the gears .... you can feel it and also see the rev counter bobbing a little as the revs climb. It only does it under moderate throttle. Is the car drive by wire? Could the plugs be shot or something?

Would be very grateful for any advice, is this normal or is something up?! Car is covered under warranty thankfully.
