The government is compiling a database to track and store the international travel records of millions of Britons.

Computerised records of all 250 million journeys made by individuals in and out of the UK each year will be kept for up to 10 years.

The government says the database is essential in the fight against crime, illegal immigration and terrorism.
Next week a database to store the records of everytime you scratch your butt, or pick your nose...

Exactly how will these records prevent terrorism and check up on illegal immigrants then?

It won't, but it's a damn good way of keeping tabs on expat types and travellers and seeing how long they spend in the UK and whether they are eligible to pay income tax or not.

It worries me that the government is going to all this expense to keep an eye on what the largely law abiding general public are doing. I absolutley loathe this government and would happily see them all put up against a wall and shot. As that is unlikely to happen, I am instead desperately trying to get a job abroad again.

A little bit at a time and before you now it we will be reading a story (Probably glossed over by the BBC) that will say "Turds to be bar-coded as you crap to prevent terrorism".

Pictures are too easily altered. Send them the real thing. Daily.

It wont be long before they keep records of all our DRIVING movements- it will help terrorism etc etc...

(And then we'll get a letter asking why we went for a hoon, and an environmental fine for an unnecessary journey)

If they get their way I believe this is not too far fetched.

Won't they be able to record your DNA from that?

Send them the next door neighbours dogs instead, that should put them off the scent for a bit hehe

Your driving movements can be logged. The cameras at the Dartford crossing for example.

It is just getting worse and worse. I was a labour man all my days until near the end of the Blair regime. He started this stuff then p155ed off and left Big G to pick up his mess and all he has done is spread it around and made it worse. Even George Orwell couldn't have believed it would have gone this far.

They've probably got my DNA somewhere anyway, but I like your thinking, so I'll send them a dog's too.

I thought they already did that with a ANPR network

Haha, the Brown revolution. Can you imagine if half the country just posted a turd to Gordon Brown one day as a protest. Do you think they would DNA test them all? Who would get the job of opening 100,000 turds?
