A seemingly odd one here. Came back from picking up some takeaway the other night, parked up, turned the key back and pulled it out before turning the lights off (as usual, so I can see what I'm doing).

However the engine did not stop. The dash stayed fully on and it continued to run as if I hadn't taken the key out or even turned it back. I didn't know wtf was going on and wanted my tea so just stalled it and went indoors.

Been playing with it today and found that the engine continues to run while you have the lights on (either side/dipped/both). You can pull the key out and it will continue to run until you turn the lights off. If you don't have the lights on when you take the key out it will stop as per normal.

Any ideas? I recently got my floors ripped apart by a rock, and had them all repaired, but it hasn't done the above before the other night. Could it be related at all (I don't know what stuff runs underneath the car)?

sounds like there is a shortcircuit between the lighting circuit and the ignition circuit, sounds obvious i know but I would have thought it has got to be a loom problem

So how do I wire my car to do this? It would have saved a few flat batterieslaugh

Mmmmm. Then I'd have to make sure I switch the polarity of anything I plug into the lighter socket.

I have to ask, how does that cause the car to run with the ignition turned off
