MacIntyres Toughest Towns - Paris.
Discussion
It seems to be getting its fair share of problem signs like other major cities. I just arrived (again) this afternoon on Eurostar, but on a different side of the train. The railway areas into Paris Gare de Nord has always looked s
te - rough buildings, graffiti, but today I noticed a couple of shanty towns that I hadn't seen before. Black, dirty earth areas, multi coloured bits and pieces of wood nailed together to make a shelter - looked like something from news footage of apartheid Africa. Not seen that before.
Also noticed a couple of weeks ago, a lot more people sleeping in doorways. Serves me right for staying at St Lazare I guess....
It seems to have the signs and ingredients for some tough times.
