RBS bonuses. Time to move the overdraft?

Despite having recently had £20,000,000,000 of our money (well, more likely yours on reflection),RBS are sorting-out bonuses(!) to be paid to the drooling, brain-dead incompetents who appear unable to differentiate between a plus and a minus sign and who, presumably, believe a balance-sheet must have something to do with Weight-Watchers.


Is there a bank that is operated with at least a trace of ethics and acumen?

As to RBS bonuses, I believe half of the money is going to ABN Amro people & is contracted in stone so they probably can't avoid it.

As to the rest, well there will undoubtedly be some parts of RBS that did well and made proper money in the last year - the people who did that are probably contractually entitled to bonuses as well - and those bonuses are more than likely tied to individual or departmental perfotmance, not company performance.

Then there is the issue of paying bonuses to people who have performed & who you want to keep (so they will do it again). The city has long used the "reducing bonus" method of encouraging those that were no longer wanted to up-sticks & leave of their own accord - so that's easy to manage.

Conversely, the best people in RBS need to be kept and so they need to pay them market competitive rates of pay - there are ALWAYS jobs for the best people - no matter what the market conditions.
