Tuscan Carbon Exhausts

I had a pair of original Tuscan carbon exhausts replaced due to damage with ones from the Carbon Can Company. These appear to be straight through pipes as opposed to the original ones which I am assuming were perforated. The performance certainly seems to be good with them, especially as i am running larger diameter S-pipes, but I'm just not sure about the different exhaust note they give. It's much more raw than before. Does anyone have a set of original carbon cans for S-diameter pipes than they might be interested in selling or swapping? Cheers Al.

Is there a difference to the end pipes where the cans attach on S pipes? I thought they were the same.

I have my original standard cans that were sleeved back in dec 00. The sleeves are rusted now, and probably rusted in, but I guess possible to remove? Maybe not though! let me know if they are of interest.

I have a spare set of original cans. I've ended up with 2 sets plus my CCC's (that are currently on the car) which came from an S and fit my standard MK1 so I assume S and standard pipes are the same size as the S??

I think the fitting is the same for 'S' and normal. What puzzled me was why the CCC supplied straight through pipes and not perforated. They look a slightly different shape as well to the originals which had more tapered ends.

It is just a bit misleading. CCC only supply straight through pipes which are not carbon (despite the name). The original end cans are perforated but have a fake carbon 'wrapper'.

CCC's and original cans are made from Pre-Preg carbon fibre, they are made in a female madrel which gives them a smooth outer finish which does make them look a little fake.

CCCs with cats still in place is my personal favourite tuscan noise. I decatted my car and it was stupidly loud and a step too far for me. I now have 200 cell sports cats fitted by TVR Power and it's better, but still not quite as sweet sounding as it was with just CCCs on. It used to sound just like a D-type up to about 4k and then something else more modern above that.

Blue flame will do you a set of perforated cans but they sound virtually identical to standard in terms of noise, ie mellow but too quiet for a TVR.

That is interesting. My CCC's are stainless - can't see any carbon in them. The carbon weave on my original cans just looked like a pattern, ie way too uniform for regular carbon fibre. Will have to check them again. How do they bond it to the stainless to allow for the unequal heat expansion ?

Nice sound but just not evil enough for me after coming from a V8. The best thing about the originals was being able to 1/2 or 3/4 sleeve them to get the personal sound you like.

Perhaps one of the companies could manufacture perforated end cans with threaded, screw in sleeves that could easily be removed and stored in boot for long journeys (and track days) and put in for those hooligan moments ?

I was speaking to him earlier this week about some cans for my Sag. I think he has a limited side line in cans, so should be ably to do something.

I have a loude and quiet set for my Sag, the quiet ones were also on my Tuscan, so ar ethe same bore which I use for Track days.

When i bought mine i was told the eshaust was not standard but its not very loud, the can on the back are carbon but not the shiney carbon like standard, they are a much more matt look like unlaquered carbon and you can actually feel the weave.
