Well I am a very lucky person indeed, basically I had to take my wife’s youngest son & his girl friend home on Saturday, decided to show off much against my wife’s instructions and no sooner had I overtaken a batch of cars on the hill leading out of Portsmouth (M27) I found an unmarked Skoda bristling with flashing lights in my RV mirror, quickly pulled over & got out to have a word with the officer driving.

He quickly spotted to PH logo’s and suggested that being a member I should know better & should not have been exercising my right foot in the way I did and should look at what I am overtaking in future. He also pointed out that to pursue a prosecution would result in my licence being automatically taken away – totally gobsmacked I took his advice and set off once more (within the speed limit) to see him flash past at considerable speed only to pull over another motorist before we had reached the next junction, he made the ‘old beast’ look not so fast.

Moral of the story is that I have learned a valuable lesson & will take heed in the future (without the need for penalty points/disqualification) and the whole event has given me a lot more respect for traffic Police. I still cannot believe that I was not told that I will be receiving a brown paper envelope in the future, Mrs V8HSV pointed out, ‘twice the legal spxxd xxxxx’

My Smart is fast as hell around the doors, I think it does like 25-30mph in first, semi auto 'slap' into 2nd and you're away... zoom ........

I used to love the look on peoples faces when I zipped away.

Don’t start me off...

I have a smart that has already gotten me in to trouble/penalty points thinking was slow by comparison to the HSV.

Mine produces 120 bhp at the flywheel & 135 ft lbs at the wheels, all produced under 5k at just over 2 bar – how mad is that from 3 cylinders & an eight of the capacity of the GTS. It will cruise at three figure speeds (abroad of course) and you should see it go up French/Italian mountain ranges.

So to maintain a clean licence I will have to take off the SC belt & take off the intercooler pipe on the smart, I don’t think so, perhaps I should wear slippers driving LOL

my last car was an octy vrs and they are very quick and i can see exactly why the plod use them they handle very well and the only way you would get away from one is to be in a dead straight line (i once made a porche targa driver feel very small haha)look was priceless not bad from a 1.8t lump the only waekness in the engine is the turbo

Grey unmarked Skoda - Hampshire - brings back bad memories when I was involved in a typical police set-up. People mover pushing me faster and faster (I know its all down to your own right foot) but picture this - 2 lane stretch of the M3 doing 75 in an M5 when this people mover fills my rear mirror - accelerate to get out of its way - we get to 90 and it pulls over to reveal an unmarked Skoda, which then pulls me. I am sure they were working together...

Have since heard of three others caught this way - it’s a scam, but of course you are guilty of speeding which is why the drivers always accept the fixed penalty notice offered.

Similar experiences anyone?

down some back roads many years ago a astra GSI was sitting on my arse for a mile or two i had a 309gti had some fun he overtook me i overtook him, then he pulled me and boll***ed me!

i complained and said he was goading me on and it was entrapment, he said tough you were speeding, if you dont behave ill have your licence.

Ive not got alot of respect for traffic police but i do have alot of respect for the rest of them.

My Dad acquired a few points a few years back after an overtake on the A9 in Scotland. Driving a Carlton GSi3000, he caught up a line of cars travelling at well under the 60mph limit and dispatched them all in one hit, exceeding the limit by about 30% in the process. A ticket arrived a couple of weeks later - we assume there was an unmarked traffic car at the front holding everyone up.

On my parents' next trip to Scotland, in the same car, he had a Cavalier on his back bumper for miles, as if goading him to go faster. Not wishing to add to the points tally, Dad was sticking to the speed limits, and even though there was ample opportunity for the Cavalier to pass, it did not. After some time, the other driver eventually got fed up and belted past. Dad is sure the other driver was wearing a uniform.....

Forget the camera, what we need is rear facing oil slick jets and rotating number plate assemblies byebye Rozzers...
