Just hunting around for quotes and privilege came in £200 under everyone else (£416 vs £600+). Sounds like they might be trying to corner the market on BMW. Quote was found with gocompare.com. Worth a look if you're renewing soon.

Anyone else found any companies considerably cheaper than the rest?

I've just taken a policy with Privilege, they were £400 less than A plan for my 645.

For years Privilege were cheapest for me, but the last two years theyve been beaten significantly by Elephant, the only thing I can put it down to is my missus (who's on the policy) had a fairly minor claim accident just over 2 years ago, no other claims or convictions etc though.

If you've got a competitive RENEWAL in writing from your existing insurer then First Direct are worth a try, as they're promising to beat any written renewal by 10%, and 15% for additional cars in the household. Its not actually FD that do it, a company called Equity Direct administer it under the FD name but its underwritten by Norwich Union so hopefully can't be any worse than Elephant/Admiral from some of the stories I've read. Ive just used that offer to good effect beating Elephant's renenwal, insuring both our cars (a year old 123d and a 2001 Leon diesel) for £400 combined.

I was with Privilege for a couple of years until I swapped over to Admiral.
For the last 3 years they have been the cheapest by a country mile compared to everyone.
£302 FC with protected NCB for a 25 year old on a 323Ci. Closest I got at last renewal was £468...
