I think I've read somewhere that there is somewhere to put the roof does anyone know where? Is it easy to remove or does it require an army or people? Also, does the gts tend to leak? I've heard that spiders often can, but I've never heard of berlinetta's doing it? So what about the gts

Thank you

Correct - behind the seats, so you need to have the roof cover to avoid it marking and, if you need the seats all the way back it is not really ideal.

Leaking. Some do, some don't depending on the state of the seals. Similar to the Spiders. Berlinettas don't leak period (unless you point a jet wash at the door seals biggrin )

Oh, you can also get a little bit of squeaking with the TS and Spiders. Again, this varies between cars and how good the roof fit is.

One person lift off and it goes behind the seats in the soft cover provided this soft cover has 2 poppers that fasten to the bulkhead to keep it in place.

Only problem is if you are tall(and or fat) the seat cannot travel as far back!
I am 6'2 and could not drive 348 TS with roof behind the seats (so had to leave it at home not ideal) but was ok with the F355 GTS.

IME, 355 GTSs leak more than Spiders. The targa roof is a solid piece and the rest of the chassis is less so, hence the seals have a tough time.

On the Spider, the roof is flexible so the seals can keep the roof sealed better against the header rail.
My Spider didn't leak unless pressure-washed, my friend's GTS leaked copiously just driving along in the rain.

Ferrari also put more reinforcement in the Spider, so its chassis is stiffer than a GTS with the targa panel out.

Ok thanks. How badly is it likely a gts will leak? Obviously a few drops in the cabin during a storm isn't a big problem but, if it's buckets of water coming in then, that's really going to bug me.
To be honest i actually would prefer a berlinetta, but that's mostly because
1) I sounds ace biggrin
2) I normally don't like seeing this black roof that doesn't match the rest of the car, however on the car i'm looking at it has the roof painted so it looks just like a berlinetta.

Seeing as i'm not that fussed about having a removable roof, is it worth me going for a gts (where the roof won't get used that much) or should i just keep a look out for a berlinetta?

Thanks all advice is appreciated.

Get a GTB. It is noticeably stiffer and there is just less to cock up.
With a decent enhaust, you'll hear enought noise. Trust me biggrin

I had a test in a GTS. The squeaking roof would have driven me to distraction. But, I know they don't all do it and I believe it can be fixed/reduced anyhow. I also took the view that having part of your Ferrari that's designed to be lifted off and go behind the seats was likely to end up costing something eventually to be fixed/mended/painted/whatever so went for the Berlinetta.

If you're not likely to be taking the roof off then it's a no brainer!
Berlinetta all the way.

There's also an unpleasant amount of buffeting when you do take the roof off a GTS in my opinion.
The Spider was great up to about 100mph.

Top tip..

Dont know if 355GTs seats are the same as 348GTS seats BUT...

there are 2 screws holding the seat backs on, with time they come loose.

I had my 348 roof laminated and painted rosso corsa, the 1st day I put it behind the seats I didnt notice the screw was loose and put a lovely score mark about 15 inches long in the roof. The air turned blue!

Worth putting a felt pad over the screw head.

Many people assume it's the seals squeaking but it's actually the locking levers rubbing against the sun visors, easily cured with some foam pads thumbup

You should have a padded cover (supplied with the car) for the panel to go into before you put it behind the seats that way the screw heads will not scratch this cover also has the poppers to secure the panel on the bulkhead.
You even get a zipped bag to put the cover in when not in use....

yep, but the story of that makes me sound even more of a doughnut. I had one tailor made for my roof. About a month before I came to sell the car i found the Ferrari supplied one under the passenger seat, hahahaha.
