Ash, you are joking? It's chump change, compared to automotive indulgances... ;-)

Bamford do them (PVD Daytonas that is) - only pic I could find was a 'special' of theirs with a blue face:

but since it's a 'bespoke' service I guess you just pick up a steel Daytona on the second hand market and then send it to them for the PVD process? The article I found stated that Bamford sold the black Daytonas 'as new' for £15k which to me is far too much money, hell I sold my Daytona for £4500 and complete disassembly and PVD coating shouldn't cost £10k really.

Not sure that I like them really. Will be interesting to see whether values of 'customised' Daytonas hold up above unmodified examples, or whether they end up being worth less - I guess the market is smaller but it depends on whether the blackened metal watch is a temporary fashion or not - the basic Daytona design has been going for decades and is always popular.

At least it's toned-down some of the bling elements of the SS versions, which IMHO are truly gash.

Don't Rolex refuse to service watches that have been customised? I'd hate to spend £15k on one to have it break and then for Rolex to tell me to fk off when I wanted it fixed.

Rolex movements are pretty boggy basic though, so a service could be performed by any decent watchmaker, and if all else fails there are quite a few watchmakers who are rolex trained and can get genuine rolex parts, i'd pay £10k for one, it's different.
Thanks,
Andrew

+ 1. Hes had that up there for a while.

I have a Hublot Big Bang Black Magic (so love PVD) and I think that Rolex is too much and ruins a classic.

I love the fact that watch guru state on their website:

"The buyer has no real risk however as the system is fully reversible". So you pay several thousand pounds extra for the privilege of owning a customised watch and pay another several thousand pounds to have it put back to original again.

Sounds like a bargain then hehe

With bells on.
