Microwave problem

Seems to be sparking and the internal light flickering, what can I do to fix it?

Bin it. Doubt its worth trying to get repaired. Are you sure there isn't a small spoon nestling in there somewhere or some other metallic object??

Remove metal from interior (that includes silver 'trimmed' plates)

If that fails, bin it.

Yes I checked for metallic objects, it does appear to be a 1970's model .

Bin it, its not worth it.

When mine started setting off my car alarm, parked just outside the kitchen window, decided that it may not be as safe as it should be. Binned it!

put stuff in it like light bulbs, an egg etc and see what happens and when it does break chuck it away and get a new one.

Don't leave the bulb in too long, or the filament will fail and thus rendering one of life's little treats useless, the light bulb that is.
