I don't know the specific car, but the following may be if interest if this is your first Griffith. It does seem good value, but it has Chimaera alloys. Budget on £500 for a decent set of Griffith alloys to make the car 'right'. It has Leven alloy interior accessories and tax til July.

It shouldn't really have needed a new engine at 65k - I'd want to find out why. Some early 5 litres did have weak cranks though, so it might be that.

I'd wonder why it has Chimaera alloys, they're not as good looking as Estorils, not original and not as valuable so I can't imagine why anyone would change them. Add to that the rebuilt engine and gearbox I'd be checking the HPI register.

Plenty of good value cars out there at the moment that don't flag up questions....

I would quiz them on the history of that engine and the wheels? May be genuine, but best to check up as much as possible.

On the question of wheels, I believe that in the same way that Estoril wheels were available as an option on the Chimaera, the Imola's were also an option for Griffith buyers.

It's all personal taste I guess - I dismissed a Griffith with Imola wheels a couple of years ago but now I see one regularly, it doesn't look so bad...just different! And who drives a TVR if they want to be the same as everyone else, TVR owners or sardine can drivers...?

Estorils went on 500s, the Imolas were for the 4.0 4.3 4.5L cars, I believe.

They were all 500s in the end.

My 96 500 was originally fitted with Imola wheels that have now been updated to Estoril. I was told by the well respected dealer that the factory did have supply problems at the time with Estorils and so fitted Imolas.

Well that would explain the reason for the alloys then as i spoke to the main owner of the car and the imolas have been on the car since new. I will leave them anyway as i quite like them lol.
