Commuting from Rugby to Hatfield daily

I've done half that distance and had no life in the week. Out the door at 6.30, back home again at 7pm. Weekends are a write off as you just about recover and it's back to it again

ETA - I just looked it up on Multimap. I thought it would be around 120 miles, but it's not. It's 70'ish. In which case, thats the sort of commute I did as per above but mine was about 1.5 hours. Yours, who knows

You would be mad. If you did A14 ( ) and A1 () it would take you hours. I do Huntingdon - Stevenage and that takes 1 hour. Stevenage to Hatfield is only 10ish miles but can be at least 30 mins. Even if you tried another way and came in from the M1 and A405 ( ) it could be even worse.

That'd be not too bad. Still count on an hour each way though depending on time of day.

Hatfield is at least another 40 minutes on from MK in morning traffic so good luck if you're going there.

I would say yes as a backup then look for another job in the meantime.

I did a 1 hour each way commute (bad traffic) for 4 years and I would not even consider anything longer than that, it was a nightmare.

I look 10 uyears older, and spent the whole weekend sleeping.

I did look at pubic transport. I would have had to set off before I'd got back from the day before.

You will eventually get sick and tired of it... by the end of week 1. Try moving closer to hatfield (there were starter homes there for £100k IIRC). Alternatively, MK may be OK.

I do, Leamington Spa to Millbrook daily and thats far enough I think. 55 miles, takes hour and 10 mins most mornings and an hour home on a good day. Depends on timigs as to how bad the traffic is though.

Also make sure you have a good reliable, comfortable car. And peoples houses to stay at should there be weather like last week!

Well I have the right car, a Bora TDI, does what it says on the tin and is comfy.

Aye, I wouldn't do it forever but there aren't a lot of other jobs out there in my filed, Wintel, Citrix, application packaging/sequencing, at least not in the midlands.

I do Northampton to Rugby on a daily basis by train. The missus does Northampton to Derby via car.

Car gives you the freedom, but the train gives you some down time. Either way, we're both tired. A lot.

I live in MK and would think twice about going there from here....

I'd say go for it and see how you feel doing it. If it's the only option at the moment then surely worth doing it unitl something else comes up. It's not the worst of commutes anyway,

I used to do Leamington to Hatfield in about 1 and half hours when I was at uni. That was with the roadworks. If you time it right then hour and half should be about right. Depoends on the hours your working, pay etc to determine whether its justifiable.
