New Engine for GTM Rossa

I've got a GTM Rossa that has been off the road for a couple of years due to me living away from where it has been stored. I want to recommission it for the summer (and rest of year if I can get the hard-top to seal well enough...) and make it a bit more fun.
In light of that I'm thinking of ditching the A-series and finding a more modern alternative. The current unit is a minisport 1380, putting out about 100bhp and about the same in ft/lbs of torque, and I'm looking to swap it with something fairly comparable with a 5 speed box. My initial thought was a 4AGE from a mk1 MR2, 1.6 K-series or a fireblade, preferably keeping the current (or very similar) subframe. I'd like to do it as cheaply and easily as possible, in case it doesn't fit/ruins the car, and am interested in any suggestions or advice.

I don't know how different an original Rossa is to the updated K3 Rossa, but the K3 Rossa could take a 1.8 VVC K Series from the MGF. Try the GTM owners club site for info - http://www.gtmdrivers.com/forum/index.php
