Hello everybody, a mate of mine is looking at buying a shogun 3.2 diesel this weekend does anybody on here have any experience of these cars good or bad. Just so we know of any common faults whilst looking it over and it is a manual swb model.

About as robust and reliable jeep you can lay your hands on. Had 4 or 5 in a row and never ever even blown a fuse! Usual stuff to look for re condition,paintwork and history etc. They can get through discs quickly especially if towing and also tyres if driven hard - same as any vehicle. Only rust spot I have ever noticed is on a weld seem - visible when you open the rear boot.

We had a SWB 2.5 then the SWB 3.2 both were good cars.

The 3.2 was a big jump in both performance and fuel econ. The only thing we had go wrong in 4 years and 94K miles was a slight problem with the gearbox when we came to sell it.

The dealer said it was most likely the clutch but might be something do do with the gearbox also. I felt at the time it was more than just a clutch but I got shot of it before getting it looked at, and before it became a real problem.

I had a late 2006 one and it proved very reliable. The engine was a bit agricultural though, don't hold the gearstick (manual) when you start it, you may break your arm!
