i Pod and i tunes questions

I'm no computer expert so please excuse me if these seem daft questions.

Mrs Phil Dicky and me share an ipod, but as I'm going skiing soon I shall be taking the ipod with me and as such all the tunes. So I intend to buy another ipod. The questions are as follows;

1/ Can we run 2 itunes accounts from the same computer.
2/ If we burn some of the tracks from the first itunes account, can they be downloaded to the second itunes account, (will itunes download off a burnt disk)

I cant say about purchased iTunes tracks (rip all mine from cd) but I'm suer its the same.

You can run as many ipods as you want from itunes, I run a 30g and a nano fine.

Why bother with 2 accounts? use the one account and only put what songs you want onto your ipod...

Yeah you don tneed 2 iTunes store accounts.

Just plug in the 2nd iPod and go.

It needn't though.

I have the same library on 2 computers, but the one time i synced my ipod on the different pc, itunes insisted on erasing everything from the ipod and reinstalling the 'new' library, which took time.

Yeah an iPod can only be associated with 1 instance of itunes even if they have the same songs. iTunes has major flaws but for most it works ok.

No.

1 iTune account. 1 PC, 1 install of iTunes, just plug as many iPods as you want into it.

No.

1 iTune account. 1 PC, 1 install of iTunes, just plug as many iPods as you want into it.

I use my 80GB as the main library.

I then use her 8GB nano and drag and drop albums to the nano playlist I created. (Just tell itunes to only sync that playlist to the 2nd device)

I do the same with my iphone, just another playlist, tell it to only sync that playlist. Its easy.

My iPod Touch and my old 3rd gen for the car synced to the Mac as well as my daughter's Shuffle which has her own playlist.

Why not have one library on one PC/lappy, and share with the other computer, thus meaning you don't need 2 separate instances?

Depends what you want to do...

If you want the same tunes on both iPods just sync both iPods to the same computer with one user account.

If you want your collection on your iPod and her collection on her iPod then create another user profile on the computer. You sync your iPod when you're logged in, the OH connects her iPod when she's logged in. You can both log into the same iTunes account from your own logins on the computer or you can have separate iTunes accounts if you'd prefer.

In the case of two separate user accounts on the computer... If you want some of the tunes to be on both iPods then log-in as one user and just copy the relevant tunes from the iTunes music folder into a shared folder that can be accessed from the other user's log-in, then log-in as the other user and copy the tunes from the shared folder into that user's iTunes library. No need to mess about burning CDs.

You dont need 2 accounts.

Either synch what playlists/songs you want to either or select all.
