that's marked 'provisional' on the sale list - how can an auction purchase be 'provisional'?... I thought that if you made a bid and the hammer came down, you were legally bound to buy or, did the vendor offer an opt-out?
In the current situation that 'some' people think we must kowtow to like it's a heaven-sent edict, that's not a bad auction price. Surely a well-spec'd official Lamborghini dealer maintained car would fetch more especially as they wouldn't be selling through any auctions just yet...
Actually, thinking about it a bit harder, that's got to be a panic sale in which case somebody should have covered their backs before the doo-doo hit the rotating air cooler... a pity there may be a few people like that at the moment.

In fairness only 1 person got this car. Its a lucky break for whoever did but just because 1 person got a bargain don't expect it yourself or anyone else.
I''m not trying to be bad about it but there's always good trade/auction/repo stories but prices are what they are on general markets and most people have to make do. The person who got that was in the right place/right time and also probably knew someone good.

Does "provisional" not mean failed to make the reserve price? In the current situation that 'some' people think we must kowtow to like it's a heaven-sent edict, that's not a bad auction price. Does "provisional" not mean failed to make the reserve price?the answer to our question, is, I believe, OUT THERE in the X Files of PistonHeads!

I'm not saying that the Chatsworth Estate is the garden of Eden, but it's been a good home to...

From the OP of his other auction reports.
SOLD - you pay this price plus a buyer's premium of 4-5%.
Provisional - you are the highest bidder but haven't met the reserve. Manheim will try and broker a deal between you an the vendor (either you move up or the vendor moves down). You are bound to buy the car if the vendor moves his reserve down to your bid, but are not bound to offer any extra. (Plus buyer's premium as before)
Submit Highest Bid (SMB) - The vendor has not left a reserve but has asked the auction house to submit the highest bid to him for his consideration. You are bound to buy the car if your highest bid is accepted. (Plus buyer's premium as before)

Just wondering how the LP560 Spider will do as why would any sensible person pay a predicted £150k+ for the LP560 Spider when 2008 low mileage spiders are going for £95k??? You do have to wonder if Lamborghini should have gave the LP560 600bhp to make buyers think they are getting allot more car for there money or just kept the list price as was with the outgoing Gallardo.
Same problem will arrive with the Scud Spider at £190K?? £190k for a "Fast" F430 Spider is pointless in my opinion with 2007/2008 used models at £100k.
P.S. I guess its similar to the Man Utd boys paying £140k+ for the facelifted Bentley Conti "Speed" when the original Conti can be had for £40k used.

You make the fatal assumption that £150k convertible cars are mainly bought by sensible people! Some are, but many are with so much money they don't care.

Same must be said with the amount of used Scuds avalaible at the Ferrari dealers.
