Anyone using pocket Wizards with Vivitar 285s?

If I'm travelling abroad I usually have to pack light which means a couple of trusty old Vivitar 285's for off camera flash. How to trigger the 285's? Well you can pay silly money for a piece of cable from various outlets as the Vivitar only accepts a proprietary input, or...... There is a brilliant mod that can be made to the hotshoe internals which allows you to plug the 285 straight into your PW with a chopped up male mono-jack lead. Cost? £2.50 & some of your time Interested?

It's a god mod isn't it, saved me lots of hassle trying to source the 'proper' cables!

Whitefly; essentially you chop a male mono jack lead in two, splice the cable, drill a hole in the 285 hotshoe then connect red to white & *other colour* (mine was unsheethed) to black. If you'd like more details I can open mine up and take a snap of it..... or Dean could
