I'd suspect he jumped. I'd also suspect that most politicians will be wary about applying pressure to the FSA for things like this, in case their memos supporting light touch regulation start to float to the attention of the Fifth Estaterandlemarcus said:

If there was absolutely no merit in the accusations then why would he resign from the FSA? I guess he can see what's coming next.

The "whistleblower" from Halifax was sacked soon after he told them about the problems he foresaw..It does seem a tad suspicious especially as he was the Risk and Compliance chappy...Nice.
Should resign his knighthood as well. Giving out these automatic honours should have been stopped a long time ago.

I would like to think that if I was the boss and being investigated by my own organisation that they would find that allegations against me "had no merit".

I didn't say that. I'm not interested in the accusations, but this guy is part of the management team at the FSA who have spoectacularly failed to do their job of regulating the markets properly. THAT'S why it's good that someone is taking some responsibility over there, good for him for having some moralsNice.

I can't help thinking that Broon roasting the Bankers is to fire a warning shot across the bows of the FSA and to deflect attention away from his own culpability.......or have I got that completely wrong?esselte said:

The bank is making a killing, everyone is getting huge bonuses and you're there telling everyone to stop investing in what's bringing all the cash in - how popular are you going to be?Rather amusing that risk and compliance people are pretty much all the banks are hiring at the moment.
