A begging thread - c'mon phers help a man in need!
Discussion
Alright guys and dolls,
My new workplace is looking to have an in house auctioning of goods for our chosen charity (dogs for the deaf!). Already people have managed to obtain signed football shirts, cricket bats etc.
Now then we all know of the varied contacts held by phers and of the varied hobbies, interests that were all involved in, really I'm begging to see if anyone has any goods they could supply and in return make me look good in front of my new employer/colleagues...
don't worry your assistance wouldn't be in vein, you'll have completed your good deed for the year, assisted in giving a dog a home and given a deaf person the opportunity to make their life easier! I know its alot to ask for but in return I'll do anything I can.
Finally anyone any other ideas of charity fundraisers that we could utilize and in turn make around £7000?
Ps sorry about the spelling/grammar...this phone isn't upto much!
Matt

Dogs for the deaf? Surely they must be fairly far down the deserving charity list.
Now don't get me wrong, I love man's best friend. I saw a dog for the deaf answering a telephone on blue peter about 20 years ago and thought it was pretty cool, but in these days of mobile phones and high intensity LED smoke alarms just what do they do?

The modern dogs are fluent in BSL. They also do subtitles on the tele. Now don't get me wrong, I love man's best friend. No, the dog licks your body somewhere (can be trained to lick any part of your body) & have proven very popular amongst single women.if someones at the door and the person can't hear the door bell will the dog bark to get its owners attention.. hang on...

king dog, they are deaf not incompetent.
I'd have thought it was the specialist training which they would struggle with, rather than simply buying a dog.

Hearing dogs for Deaf People
They do a good job and get no funding from government nor from the lottery. At the moment they are suffering quite badly from the financial situation.
